Mother Kills, Dismemebers, and Eats 3 1/2 Week Old Baby

The ghastly and grisly murder of a 3 1/2 week old infant sends shock waves throughout not just Texas, but the country as a whole.

33 year old Otty Sanchez will be charged with capital murder in the gruesome death of her 3½ week old son, Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez.

San Antonio Chief of Police William McManus addressed reporters on Monday regarding the crime. San Antonio police were called out to Sanchez' home early Sunday morning. McManus described a horrible scene where the tiny body of the newborn baby boy was laying in the bedroom cut into pieces.

It seems that a fellow family member of Sanchez, a sister, was the one who stumbled upon the horrific scene and called 911.

The Devil Made Her Do It

As per the Associated Press report, Otty Sanchez was found sitting on the couch with a self-inflicted stab wound to her chest and her throat partially slit (also self inflicted), screaming over and over that she killed her baby. She told police that the voices spoke to her and that the devil told her do it.

A Scene So Shocking

The dismembered baby was found with three of his toes chewed off, his little face ripped off its skull, his head detached from his body and his brain torn out.

Seeming uncomfortable and obviously disturbed by the scene, Chief McManus, a 34-year career officer and father of three, somberly told reporters "it's too heinous for me to describe it any further."

Cannibalism was also Reported in the Sanchez Murder

It is reported that Sanchez ate parts of the baby – including his brain. She reportedly dismembered the baby’s body with a kitchen knife, a sword and possibly a machete.

Postpartum or Another Form of Psychosis

Sanchez had a history of psychiatric problems according to her aunt, Gloria Sanchez, though the aunt wouldn’t go into detail as to the extent of Sanchez’ problems. Investigators are probing into Sanchez’ psychiatric/psychological history to see if there might have been any red flags or anything of significance.

What could possible drive anyone, let alone a mother, to commit such a shocking, monstrous crime? According to police reports, the baby’s father had moved out of the house where the crime occurred last week possibly bringing about this terrible catalyst. Postpartum syndrome is also being looked at as a possible cause behind this unexplainable crime.

Sanchez was taken to San Antonio's University Hospital in critical condition and is now recovering from her self-inflicted injuries. She will be held on a $1 million bond.

More details are sure to be up coming later on in the week. For now Texans, as well as the rest of the world are left wondering how something like this could have happened.

I cannot believe that anyone could do something this horrifying to an infant. It is one thing to harm yourself or take your own life but to harm an innocent child is another. I hate to say it, but I truly wish she wouldn't have made it through her own self inflicted injuries!

Another victim from a broken family, once again. Don't put all the blames on the woman as the father of the infant should also be responsible of this slaughter. He was the one who initiated his wife's demonic encounter by leaving and put all the pressure on her. God bless the victims including the mother.

You guys shouldn't say putting this woman to death, as she is also a victim from his husband abanding her.
If you guys insist to put her to death, might as well kill the father too.

She needs to be put to death or tortured she don't deserve as a fast death, she deserves a slow and painful death. And if they don't put her to death they need to at least cut her fraken ovaries out while she's awake and with no pain killers so she can never conceive again.

How in the world can you people put the blame on the fater? I am a mother and if my husband left me I would not eat my children. He left her, not the baby. When people do stuff you should not blame someone else for their actions. What about her mother and sister who lived with her and saw her everyday? Why arent you blaming them? They should have seen the signs!! Now dont get me wrong I am not blaming them myself, I just asking the ignorant people out there how you can blame the dad and not the people who were living there.

This is a sad and disgusting story.... but when a baby is aborted, it is cut in pieces and thrown away. This baby was only 31/2 weeks old. So, if the mother had gotten rid of it 4 weeks earlier, no one would be upset. Yet the pain and suffering it went through would be about the same. Do you think babies do not have nerve endings until they are out of the womb? Of course not! Yet, since this baby WAS born, everyone is (rightly) upset by the horrific death. I wonder if anyone upset by this is pro-choice, and if so, why they dont back up this monster's "right to choose"?

There are plenty of moms that dont have a dad to help raise their baby and don't eat their children. Fathers should step up but he is not to blame for this. This woman deserves more punishment than can be given to her in this lifetime but don't you think the fater is traumatized enough? Im sure he will "what if" himself to death but he isn't to blame. I am a single parent of 2 and would NEVER ever harm my children. I am disgusted by what this woman did and may she forever live with knowing she ate her child.

This is disgusting and sad. The father should have taken the baby with him knowing the child might be in the slightest way in danger. Knowing her background he should have gotten the infant and kids out of the house. But you can't put the blame all on him. Individuals must be held responsible for their own decisions in hurting anyone. She obviously needed psychiatric help but there is a must for some kind of justiciable punishment!

I believe there were signs that this woman should NOT have been left alone with this poor little baby boy. I believe she has mental problems, BUT...she should still be held totally responsible for what she did. If the father suspected anything, he should be charged with "something", along with her family members. I cannot imagine the pain this poor little guy felt...and you KNOW he cried in pain and fear...didnt she have enough "maternal love" in her to stop EVEN then??? I look at my 4 kids, and cannot fathom hurting them, much less what this person did to the baby. Breaks my heart to know that a life was cut short. If she or the family didnt want this gift from God, I wouldve gladly taken the baby and loved him as my own!!! God bless you, little baby boy....

I believe that the whole "voices" thing is just and excuse. I think that the police should look into the people at the hospital and the sister because there had to be signs that were exhibited by the mother. why did they not see them??

How sad, the loss of a child is never a happy occasion. My heart goes out to her family, and those left behind to mourn the loss of mother and child.

This is the craziest thing I ever heard of. Im sick of the post partum excuse for anyone. Whoever her ObGyn was shame on him/her also shame on anyone that allowed this pregnancy to continue. I also blame the father and the family. They all have to pay the price now. The mother is not the only one to blame. Do not blame POST PARTUM IT IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!! Im tired of everyone using it. My heart goes out to that little boy,who did not deserve this. She deserves all that's she has coming to her. I would love to be judge and jury!!!!!

There are women who can't have children, and all they can dream about is having a baby...... They have so much love to give to a child.... Why mother nature gives babies to psychos like this one??? I don't even know how to call this "creature"!!!!!!!!! I don't care how sick she was!!!!!!
