Chris Brown and Rhianna the Saga ContinuesBrown Charged with Two Felony Counts
Now that Chris Brown has been charged with assault and making criminal threats by the LA District attorney's office, what will be the result of his battery of Rhianna?
Speculation surrounding the fate of Chris Brown has reached a fever pitch now that the R&B singer, dancer and actor has been charged in an incident involving his female companion Pop singer Rhianna. Although the two entertainers have recently been seen together and are reportedly back together as a couple, there are still many unresolved issues related to this severe assault case, none more important than whether or not Brown will see the inside of a jail cell due to his conduct with regard to this incident. Brown Charged with Assault and Making Criminal ThreatsL.A.'s District Attorney Steve Cooley took time to study the pro's and con's of the potential criminal case against Chris Brown and made the decision to file charges. Brown's assault charge according to the criminal complaint, was for an assault likely to cause great bodily injury and the criminal threats charge came from uncorroborated comments Brown made directly to Rhianna while the two were involved in what was described in the criminal complaint as a escalating violent confrontation. In addition, some speculation has been raised about the amount of time that was taken by LAPD police investigators to get the case to prosecutors and whether the prosecutors office has in the past chosen to be lenient on famous people, especially those with strong ties to the local recording and Hollywood movie industry. Three-Page Text-Message Allegedly Leads to Violent AltercationAccording to a search warrant in the case, Rhianna read a 3-page text from another woman on Brown's phone a verbal argument ensued and then Brown allegedly hit Rhianna in her face with his right hand. The report then details that Brown while driving allegedly struck Rhianna several more times in the head and that her mouth filled with blood. Then apparently Brown tried to extract Rhianna from his rented Lamborghini, and when he was unable to accomplish this (due to Rhianna having her seat belt on), he allegedly told her he was going to, beat the sh** out of her when they got home. After that, Rhianna was said by the report to have phoned her assistant saying she was on her way home and that she would like for the police to be there when she arrived; to which Brown was reported to have said among other things that, "now I am really going to kill you." Physical Abuse of Anyone and Making Threats is Really Inappropriate BehaviorOne of the most important aspects of this case is that it is drawing attention to the issue of domestic violence against women in this country. However one of the most disturbing elements of this case has to do with a segment of the American public (especially women) who seem to think that Rhianna must have done something to deserve this treatment from the man in her life. Rumors have been rampant that Rhianna gave Chris Brown a reason for attacking her, like she had cheated on him, giving him an S.T.D or that Brown caught her with someone else. But regardless of what the issue might have been, it is probably a safe bet that this kind of violent behavior is not what anybody in any relationship should expect from anyone. And perhaps if more people would stand up against this type of abuse, perhaps less of it would occur. But because certain parts of the recoding industry that both of theses young stars belong to has been allowed to push the more negative aspects and skirt the negative boundaries of speech and content, our young people have become more and more desensitized to these lyrics and what they see in these videos. Perhaps the Los Angeles County prosecutors office may yet send another message through the incarceration of Chris Brown, that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. Not for the famous, not for anyone.
