Florida's Sunshine Laws have allowed the public enormous access to documents, videos, photos, and recordings related to a young murder victim and her mother.

From cell phone pings to video conferences, anyone interested in the unfolding true-crime drama connected to Casey and Caylee Anthony can learn more about the case through the primary sources that are available online. Casey Anthony, Caylee's mother, is the police's main suspect, but she has not been found guilty. Her trial is scheduled for March 2009. After reading about the case, online forums offer a chance for would-be detectives to share their theories.

Anthony Document and Audio Files Online

Crimewriter David Lohr serves as an outstanding archivist for anyone looking for information about the case against Casey Anthony. He writes for the Discovery Channel's site, Investigation Discovery, which has a section devoted to the murder of Caylee Anthony. In addition to Lohr's blog, where he carefully details breaking news and analyzes details of the case, Investigation Discovery offers an annotated library of documents, audio, and video. His collection includes letters, memos, and a huge collection of "document dumps":

Police Reports

  • arrest affidavit
  • charges
  • search warrants
  • incident reports

Court Documents

  • court orders (bond, protective orders)
  • subpoenas
  • appeals

Various Documents from Document Dumps

  • discovery evidence documents
  • court documents
  • logs (jail visitations, cell phone pings, text message times and numbers)
  • transcripts (police interviews, text messages, chat/instant message conversations)

Audio Files

  • 911 calls
  • Orange County investigative conversations, interviews, and interrogations
  • Casey Anthony's jail house call to her family
  • Never Lose Hope Foundation recording by George Anthony
  • Casey Anthony's jail conversations with a friend and family members

Investigation Discovery also has video files, but the collection is not as complete as the rest of the Anthony library of files.

How to Find Casey Anthony Video Files

The uncut videos of Casey Anthony in jail are tricky to find online; it is often easier to search for them instead of linking to files that are quickly removed due tobandwidth restrictions. The best sites to search for Anthony videos are: myfoxorlando.com

  • wesh.com
  • truveo.com
  • cnn.com

When going to the sites, search for "Casey Anthony jail video". Often, other videos (such as news reports) will appear. Youtube is an obvious source, but because many of the videos are actually copyrighted to the news channels from which they were recorded, the videos are often taken down just as quickly as they went up.

Docstoc's Growing Collection of Documents and Photos

One of the most thorough online resources for documents is Docstoc, which is a free "Youtube" for documents. Files are uploaded by users, who can choose how they share them. It is easy to create a new account, and users can make folders to save files created by other users. To access files, search for "Casey Anthony" in quotations. The resources included on the site include user-created documents based on the materials that have been released by law enforcement, so it is possible to see time-lines, collated text messages, maps, and more. Docstoc has transcripts of many of the jailhouse recordings.

Transcripts of news shows also make for interesting reading, because legal analysts provide insight and answer questions related to the case. Because news sources often archive their information, it is important to bookmark the main page, not the page of the story, and then do a search for the document through the website's search engine.
